Mac OS X: launchd is like /etc/init.d

man launchd ~/Library/LaunchAgents Per-user agents provided by the user. /Library/LaunchAgents Per-user agents provided by the administrator. /Library/LaunchDaemons System-wide daemons provided by the administrator. /System/Library/LaunchAgents Per-user agents provided by Mac OS X. /System/Library/LaunchDaemons System-wide daemons provided by Mac OS X. remove those objects/files you don't want to auto launch or similar. Take care to really know what they do before removing them
