Mac OS X: disable IPv6

networksetup -listallnetworkservices

networksetup -setv6off Service name
(i.e  networksetup -setv6off "Ethernet 1")

When this is done the "Off" option is visible in the Network preference window.

networksetup -setv6off "Ethernet"
networksetup -setv6off "Wi-Fi"
networksetup -setv6off "Bluetooth DUN"
networksetup -setv6off "Bluetooth PAN"
networksetup -setv6off "Firewire"
